 Times of Perception

September 12th, 2019 - January 4th, 2020

2019 marks the 75th anniversary of American internment of Japanese and Japanese-Americans during WWII. Two years ago, the Trump administration issued Executive Order 13769, commonly known as the Muslim Ban. Times of Perception is a multimedia exhibition that reflects on the experience of Japanese Internment, the Muslim Ban, and the treatment of Muslims after the War on Terror.

This exhibition utilizes the looking glass of the past in order to see the present anew. These artists call into question how the audience perceives Muslims and Muslim-Americans so that we may write a new story, rather than repeating the mistakes of our forebearers. To do so in this political climate is not only timely, but brave and necessary.
